This Month: August

August is my favourite month!! What? Why is the coldest month of year your favourite? Not much is growing.

True dat! BUUUT firstly, it's my birthday month. And secondly, spring is coming!!! Thank goodness.

This is the month to be planting your fruit trees and canes. Note we are just referring the deciduous ones, which rules out citrus (you plant those in spring). These bare roots fruits are best planted while dormant (like roses) so that they are in place and settled before the warmer days hit.

Get your compost on! And save those banana peels. Your soil will be grateful when your spring crops start sprouting and looking for nutrients. In July, did you see my social media posts about compost options and soil essentials? If not, scroll back and read up on those tips before we jump into the next ones.

On social media this month we will be focusing on some of the top plants to grow in September. This gives you the chance to learn the tips for success before we jump into spring.

A few new planting guides online, and in the works. Especially my two FREE guides which are in their final stages of drafting: Kids Garden and Beginner Garden (September planting). In the kids garden, I am focusing on all vegetables kids love eating and can sample straight out of the garden. The beginner guide is focusing on those spring and summer favourites and helping build you confidence to get dirty and eat clean.

Lastly, check out Biome and make the most of this awesome discount. Stock up on seeds, bokashis, grains, gardening supplies, vegetable brushes. They even have a great gardener's brush to get the dirt of your hands.

Gardening is good for the head, the heart and the hips.

Grow your garden with these simple easy to follow planting guides that do the thinking for you.
