This planting guide is designed to be planted by seed in February, and harvested from April till August. It especially suits cool climates like Canberra, Bendigo, Tasmania and New Zealand. But can be planted in areas of Australia on the latitude of Brisbane and south, and as some of these areas are warmer than the cool climates mentioned, there is a planting buffer of up to three weeks after February. Alternatively, those in the cool climate mentioned can also plant up to three weeks later if seedlings are used instead of seeds.
The guide is still divided into monthly explanations and diagrams, but all seeds are planted in February and in the following months only watering and some easy fertilising is required.
The planting guide includes carrots, beetroot, celeriac, cauliflower, garlic, leeks, lettuce, silverbeet and broccoli. Please see our FREE Plant Swap Guide for possible substitutions to these vegetables.
