Firstly, the skin has a lot more fibre than the flesh. So by peeling the skin you are discarding an important benefit that we obtain from eating fruits and vegetables.
Secondly, the skin has significantly higher concentrations of vitamins and antioxidants. So again by discarding this part of the plant you are throwing away valuable health benefits.
Instead invest in a good plastic free scrubbing brush to wash away any excess dirt.
